"A woman who cannot be ugly is not beautiful" - Karl Kraus
You want to be the best mother to your child. The best wife. The best homemaker. The best lawyer. The best daughter. The best friend. The best in everything. But you’re just human. With no superpowers. You bleed. You fall sick. You get tired. You break down. You fail.
Which is why it is important to accept the fact that you’re just human. You don’t have to strive to be the best at everything all the time. You have to embrace your flaws. You are worthy of appreciation. You need help. You deserve your break. You have to learn to say no. You don’t have to be a superwoman. You’re just human. Ordinary, flawed human.
It would not kill you to ignore the mess on the table. The laundry can wait. You don’t have to clean the house everyday. Take a break from waking up at wee hours in the morning just to do ironing. Don't feel guilty about taking some time off work. Take good care of your health. Refuse your good for nothing colleague when he tries to push you to do unnecessary work. Learn to prioritize. Ask people around you for help. Accept help when offered. Stop trying to please everybody. That little birthday party of your friend's won't fail without you. Beds don't have to be made every day. Remember to take some time for yourself. Remind yourself that you don't have to be the best litigator in town, the perfect trophy wife, the supermom, at all times. Remember, you're just human. Ordinary, flawed human.
Note to self.
