"There are lives I can imagine without children but none of them have the same laughter and noise.” ― Brian Andreas (American writer, painter, sculptor)

There was a room in our humble home that we have been using as a store room; the longer we treated it like a junk yard, the messier it became and it has been bugging me like crazy. Every time I watch series like Hoarders, I felt a pang of shame because we were so close to becoming hoarders, thanks to the convenience of menyampak apa saja into the store room. I’ve been dreaming to turn the room into my craft room but with another kid coming, I think it’d be wise to turn it into kids room instead, and boy I’m glad I did.

The room’s so small, it’s almost literally sekangkang kera, so nothing much can be done. Didn’t need to buy too much stuffs except the Ikea Trofast frame (and assembled it myself, so proud of me! Hehe) and few boxes. The red thingy Hadi was sitting on was actually a sofa bed we brought from our rumah sewa; the Boss bought this for his PS3 activity actually but once we moved into our own home, ia telah menjadi seakan gajah putih.

So I put a mattress above it, covered it with a fitted sheet and comforter, and voila, terhasillah katil Hadi. The canopy is also from Ikea; sesungguhnya tak ada kegunaan praktikalpun but I so knew it’d make Hadi happy because I too was small once, and main khemah-khemah and blanket fort are among my favourite things as a child.

Need to add a dresser for the kids’ clothes and maybe a few hanged pictures. I saw an idea on Pinterest of framed book cover which I thought was a very neat (and cheap!) idea. Oh and another idea of turning spice racks into book rack; sangat bijak! But laterlah maybe ya, bila rajin.

For the time being, I’m happy with how the room turned out and what makes me happier is because Hadi likes his room so much; we’ve been spending most of our nights here, reading, main, lepak-lepak tengok gadget and alhamdulillah, Hadi has been sleeping in his own room on his own for 3 nights in a row tanpa masalah. I see this as a smooth transition to being a big brother, and hope that semua transition akan as easy, insyaAllah.

Just don’t grow up too fast, sayangku :’)

You did well! I stalk Pinterest too for great ideas! Good for him to have his own room - as playroom, as bedroom :)
