When I started counting my blessings, my whole life turned around.” - Willie Nelson

My life is far from perfect. There are days when I wish I had someone else’s life but there are days like today, that I feel thankful for mine. I am thankful that I have a husband who entertains my obsession with good food. I am thankful that he works hard like a real man should and still tell me once in a blue moon (lying or not, whatever) that I’m pretty despite my sagging tummy. I am thankful for my little boy who apparently loves cats more than I do. I am thankful that I am blessed with the chance to be a mother and to feel this indescribable affection I have for my boy. I am thankful that we have a comfortable place to call our own, to go back to everyday.

I am thankful for my parents who are still very much in love with each other, with us their children and especially with my son. I am thankful for my dad who still buys me stuffs even though I’m a working, almost 30 years old adult. I am thankful for my mother who cries each time I give her my hard earned money simply because she’s proud of me. I am thankful that I have an awesome friend in my little brother. I am thankful that he found love in my sister in law, whom I adore and treat my parents really well.

I am thankful for my in laws who love my son to the core and treat me like their own. I am particularly thankful for my mother in law who is far from the monstrous mother in laws you see on TV, who made bubur chacha yesterday instead of bubur kacang because she knows I hate the latter. I am thankful for my best friends and the fact that miles can never tear our bonds apart. I am thankful that everyone I love is generally in the pink of health.

I am thankful that I have a job that pays bills and buys me pretty things once in a while. I am thankful that I discover that I can make extra money from my passion for pretty things, by assembling adorable stuffs and tying ribbons symmetrically. I am thankful that I am quite good at both jobs that I do, at least I think so, so yeah, I am thankful for the confidence.

I am thankful that despite the strict office rules that I hate, I have nice bosses, awesome colleagues and equally awesome staffs. I am thankful to both God and my parents that I am essentially a positive person. I am not optimistic all the time but I’ve seen truly pessimistic people who think life is bullshit and talk negative all the time, and I know I’m not one of them, and I’m thankful for that. I am thankful for lots of other good things in my life so yeah, I am thankful to the Almighty for blessing me all of the above and more.

I am thankful that once in a while like today, Allah opens up my eyes to see the beauty in my life and be thankful. With my entire being, alhamdulillah :)
