Sepanjang jalan kenangan

Beautiful view from our hotel room in Penang Road

Everytime we go to Penang, it is a MUST to visit my parents' childhood places and especially their so-called dating spots, like Ibu's favourite stall in Chow Rosta Road selling the famous cucoq udang & sarbat kelapa and Bapak's favourite nasik kandaq stalls. Going to Penang is always so much fun.

This time around we went to Penang for rombongan meminang bagi pihak adinda lelaki Ibu (congrats, Mamak Nifah!). So it was funner as I was in very good company. My Ibu's 3rd bro, Pak uda brought his big family with him and it was a great fun entertaining the kids. My Bapak & my Pak Uda have been friends ever since they were kids and so they are more than just ipar, they are very good buddies. Jadi sepanjang kami berjalan2, kami asek terjumpe kawan2 lama mereka bersama termasukla mamak2 nasik kandaq tu: kawan2 sekolah, kawan2 berek polis, kawan2 bola. Sangat sweet sebenarnya.

Dan setiap kali kami ke 'dating spots' ibubapa kami, cerita2 sama akan keluar, like: "Bapak kalo gi dating mesti bawak RM10 letak dalam poket baju bagi Ibu nampak. Show off.", "Bapak tetiap kali mesti bawak Ibu makan roti canai and minum horlicks kat kedai feveret die" (unfortunately kedai tu dah tutup), "Kalo Ibu sampai lewat camana pon bapak mesti senyum je" etc etc, and the thing is that, we never get tired of their 'love stories'!

Sure, like every other married couples, Ibu and Bapak fight all the time, Bapak with his quick temper and Ibu with her mood swings, but I believe those silly little fights only make them stronger. Like some say, those that can't break us will only make us tougher. Sometimes my parents are so much in love, and sometimes they just settle in loving each other. And like Morrie says, loving each other is the only thing God asks from us :-)

My dream house

And everytime we go to Penang, Bapak will bring me to jenguk2 my dream house (refer to above pics) in Tanjung Bungah. A beautiful banglo (dan hanya ada 6 buah of the same pattern) painted with my favourite colours like ivory, beige, brown, peach, and the best feature of the house is mostly the view. It is actually a beach house fronting Tanjung Bungah beach. Simply spectacular. Maybe someday...
