You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one

Remember the rude lawyer I wrote about here? He has been calling since morning dan tadi, I finally gave in and answered his call. Strangely he was very nice and polite, no guessing why lah kan, he needed my indulgence this time around. I so badly wanted to retaliate but simply couldn’t. Geramnya! But again, I must emphasis my lifelong principle: “Be nice to the people you meet on your way up, because you might meet them again on your way down”, tapi isyh! Benci juga sebab tak pandai nak retaliate!

You know I just have to write about Idol – Top 10 Show. I think Castro the Hair did kinda okay, I like the song and his guitar playing but sometimes he looks like a girl, which is a problem to me. David H did really well but words have it that he used to be a stripper! (Read here) Well, it's his past but I must admit that that kinda turned me off. Haha. And although David A seems too overrated for many people’s likings, I think he really deserved the pujian melambung from the judges; his rendition of Imagine was simply beautiful, not over the top, just simple, beautiful vocal, right on the note. Michael Johns was as boring as a rocker could be. I’ve been a fan since start but yesterday was simply BLAH. One thing maintained though, P*aula’s tendency to make bizarre comments. This time around, there was no colours of the rainbow mentioned, but the comment she made for David A was so disturbingly weird: “I want to just squish you, squeeze your head off and dangle you from my rearview mirror.” Huh?! But what do I know? I’m just a lawyer who loves my TV. Heh.

No man is good enough to govern another man
without that other's consent
~ Abraham Lincoln

Election is without a doubt the hottest topic in town. Buka surat khabar, election news. Buletin Utama, all election news for the first ½ hour (the best one yesterday was the report on the 89 years old Calon Bebas. You rock, lah Tok!) Even bloggers, including me today, blogs about Election.

This is supposed to be my first time performing my right and responsibility as a Voter. However, I will not do so as we are going to board the first flight to KT at 7++ a.m. for Hazri and Wahida’s aqad ceremony. Sorry Malaysia, tanggungjawab dalam bersahabat comes first. Sebenarnya we booked the tickets way before Election date was announced, kalau tidak, some other arrangement might be a possibility.

Fellow bloggers, do you know that your blog might expose you to legal liabilities? If the answer is no, let me give you some free legal advice.

Firstly, you don’t want to fall into the trap of the Copyright and Trademark issue. Therefore, always apply the rules of thumb of blogging: (1) Thou shall use thy own image/free images and if you use others’, be sure to put up credits to the owner; and of course, (2) Thou shall not attempt to do a H*udson (for those who aren’t aware of the infamous H*udson issue, this means, Refrain Yourself From Plagiarism). Ngeee.

Secondly, the issue of Defamation (Libel, to be exact, as blog is in written form), which I think is a very fine line from Gossiping.

Then there’s Sedition, another legal risk when your blogs could be perceived as generating racial disturbances and/or hatred towards the government/ruler. With the Election approaching, many bloggers, I think, will fall into this risk. Jadi, berhati-hatilah.

Now back to finishing legal advices for clients who actually pay.

So take the photographs and still frames in your mind

This photo was shot by my Little Bro, whose self-proclaimed genre of photography is Fotografi Jujur. I like the glowy effect. He simply wants a photo to be good because it is, not because of some editing skill that most photography enthusiasts are keen about these days. Although he is nowhere near great (dan hanyalah photographer cikai who only got paid to shoot his friend's gigs), I think he has potential.

This photo was taken from this entry by Green Apple, which is the first entry that really blew me away. With only 10% of editing and 90% of 'proses menahan panas terik semasa memicit shutter', I was very, very impressed. And the rest, as they say, is history. Heh.

I am not a photography enthusiast simply because I have no skill whatsoever but I do appreciate good photographs and admire great shooters. And the one I’m really obsessed about these days are the husband and wife team of Nate and Jaclyn Kaiser from The Image Is Found!

They are too good, aren't they?! For more great wedding shots, go here.

"Dan di antara tanda-tanda kebesaran Allah ialah diciptakan-Nya untukmu pasangan hidup dari jenismu sendiri agar kamu mendapatkan ketenangan hati dan dijadikannya-Nya rasa kasih sayang di antara kamu" (Ar-Ruum:21)

Bagaimana tuan-tuan dan puan-puan? Ada gaya? Hahaha. Alhamdulillah my cousin looked pretty with my minimal make up do. To my delight (and surprise), her husband and her MIL preferred the make up I did than the one by the professional mak andam who just won a pertandingan mak andam recently. Boleh? Tetapi logiklah, considering the fact that her husband is an ustaz/penceramah agama with a tudung labuh clad mother, tentunya they’d prefer minimal beautification to professional glamorization.

Keraian perkahwinan (walaupun meletihkan) adalah sungguh menggembirakan kerana albeit being a somewhat private person who loves her own space, I enjoy family gathering kerana ia adalah ruang untuk bertemu dan bermesra bersama saudara-mara. Alhamdulillah.

Witnessing them finally tying the knot gives me both pleasure and relief. Relief because perjalanan cinta mereka ketika awalnya sedikit berduri. Pleasure because they are the epitome of percintaan Islam sejati. Sungguh suci dan indah :) Alhamdulillah semuanya berjalan lancar and my wedding is next, insyaAllah. Mudah-mudahan majlisku will be blessed with the same, if not more, mawaddah warahmah, insyaAllah :)

I can't see me lovin' nobody but you for all my life
When you're with me, baby
The skies will be blue for all my life

I spent my lunch break reading OK! (Malaysia) magazine which featured Katherine Heighl wedding and I can't help but share with you how ethereally beautiful she was on her wedding day. Kan?

Anyways, why didn’t I write a review on TARA II Finale? Simply because I felt rather indifferent about the result. Yes I was a fan of the hunks but I was undoubtedly rooting for the Chong sisters to win. Then it would be a second win for Malaysia/womankind/underdogs. Colin and Adrian deserved the win, I guess. Perhaps our luck will return when Ninie joins TARA III. Ngeee.

TARA II slot will be replaced with Project Runaway which I really like and joining the reality tv galore is American Idol! Man, the show is back for the 7th season with much greater talents! The first Top 12 (Male) Show yesterday was undoubtedly above the par. You could pluck out any one of them and put him in our Akademi Fantasia and he will surely win lah. They are all very talented and easy on the eyes too, if I must add.

My favourite performances of the show are by
David Cook, Jason Castro with his cool hairdo and of course by my current favourite, Michael Johns (Click on the link to watch the performances on Youtube). Michael Johns had me at his first audition and completely blew me away when he performed Bohemian Rhapsody during Hollywood week.

Pheww! I tell you, this man is something else!

"Even I don't wake up looking like Cindy Crawford"
~ Cindy Crawford, on loving your own skin.

A cousin of mine is getting married this Saturday and she asked me to do her make up for Nikah ceremony. Say what? Hahaha.

I did her sister’s make up for Nikah and groom’s side a while ago and although I know nothing, nada, zero, zilch about make up, I did it as a favour dan tidak pernahlah menjangka akan begitu disukai sehingga dipromosi kepada adiknya pula dengan mengatakan, I quote, “Cantik sangat Yanti mekap. Simple and sweet.” Hahaha ‘cantik sangat’, okay? Geng aku mesti gelak pecah perut, terutama Mazia the make up guru. Heh.

Mengapa perkara ini kelakar? Kerana although I read fashion magazine, I know nothing about how to do shading or face contouring albeit desperately wishing I do. I don’t even own a proper make up set (come my wedding day, I will, thanks to bakal Kakak Ipar who bought one in London as one of my hantarans. Yeay! Watch out Mazia. Haha). I don’t even own a mascara and the lipstick I have (which I very rarely use) was my mom’s. If it is up to me, I’d rather go barefaced everywhere but I do use some of the basic stuffs, bagi menjaga kebajikan diri dan pihak-pihak lain. Ngeee.

[Gambar selingan - Fiance & I. Look at me! All barefaced! Haha]

But I guess when you have cousins whose idea of make up is bedak bayi, you’d be seen like some sort of make up guru lah kot. Ngeeee. Wish me luck!

Sekuat mana cinta

Kerana itu juga, saya begitu was-was dengan kemunculan versi filem S*x and the City.

It cries (like a baby)
In a cradle all night
It swings, it jives
It shakes all over like a jelly fish
I kinda like it
Crazy little thing called love

I'm addicted to stress that's the way that I get things done
If I'm not under pressure then I sleep too long

To those who accused me of “kurus sebab diet” or “tak ada isi sebab tak makan nasi”, when I am the type yang setiap hari mengambil complete meals of (at least) breakfast, lunch and dinner, yang sehari tak jumpa nasi merasa tidak bahagia, yang boleh makan nasi lemak Gembira with rendang ayam and roti bom in one go dan yang hanya exercise once in a blue moon, I shall say: You may have never been to KL Court Complex.

It is so huge you could lose a few kgs just to get from one wing to another. I think I just lost 2 kgs today; I had to go from the MC on Level 2, Left Wing to the HC on Level 5, Left Wing, to the SC on Level 3, Right Wing; all the while carrying a bundle of heavy files. Itu belum termasuk lagi bahawa there are only 4 elevators available, yang dikongsi oleh lawyers bersama public; hence most of the times, the fastest way to get up and down is by stairs.

You get what I mean? KL Court Complex is (one of) the reason(s) why Nijoh’s engagement ring is suddenly longgar, why my naturally small pergelangan tangan semakin terbantut tumbesarannya and why my BMI scale is now below normal.

Thank you, KL Court Complex for the involuntary weight loss.

Thou shall not take problems to bed with you,
for they make very poor bedfellows.

Among many rules formulated under my Enjoyment of Life principle is “Thou shall not bring back home thy work and/or work problems”. Saya sentiasa sedaya upaya avoid even the slightest breach of my own rules. But sadly, I am now going against them; am at home and browsing through online CLJ, doing some research. Tak suka tau!

But in line with the said Principle, in two days I’ve watched 3 movies dan saya merasa sungguh haloba kerana saya kini mempunyai 6 DVD lanun yang belum (dan wajib) saya tonton. Yabedabedoo!

I’ll share my other stupid rules from time to time (Konon macam best? Ngeh ngeh) But as at now, I’d like to share something I really like, the author of which is sadly unknown. Enjoy and be inspired!

Thou shall not worry,
for worry is the most unproductive of all human activities.

Thou shall not be fearful,
for most of the things we fear never come to pass.

Thou shall not cross bridges before you come to them,
for no one yet has succeeded in accomplishing this.

Thou shall face each problem as it comes.
You can only handle one at a time anyway.

Thou shall not take problems to bed with you,
for they make very poor bedfellows.

Thou shall not borrow other people's problems.
They can better care for them than you can.

Thou shall not try to relive yesterday;
for good or ill, it is gone forever.
Concentrate on what is happening in your life
and be happy now!

Thou shall be a good listener,
for only when you listen
do you hear ideas different from your own.
It is hard to learn something new when you are talking,
and some people do know more than you do.

Thou shall not become "bogged down" by frustration,
for 90% of it is rooted in self-pity
and will only interfere with positive action.

Thou shall count thy blessings,
never overlooking the small ones,
for a lot of small blessings add up to a big one.

See the world in green and blue

See the world in green and blue
See China right in front of you
See the canyons broken by cloud
See the tuna fleets clearing the sea out
See the Bedouin fires at night
See the oil fields at first light
And see the bird with a leaf in her mouth
After the flood all the colors came out
It was a beautiful day
Don't let it get away

It was a relaxing long leave.
It has been a very hectic Monday.
It is going to be a fun Tuesday!

Be good, eat well and smile more, people!
Have a beautiful day!

The answer to my prayers from up above

Second entry of the day. I’m that gloomy, I couldn’t bring myself to attend to the workloads anymore. Menyampah. So hi again! Here goes.

I was having some trouble with my credit card when I was about to make an online purchase via AirAsia.com for our honeymoon package. So I called the CIMB Customer Care and in order to verify my identity, the helpful personnel asked me a series of standard questions including who did I put as the person to contact in case of emergency (or in Yang and Meredith’s term, my Person). At first, I told him my dad’s name. But after a 5 seconds pause I asked him, “Or is it _____?” (the fiancĂ©’s name). He told me it’s the latter.

On that moment, it hits me. Wow. I’m finally trusting someone enough for him to replace my dad as my emergency contact. I know it might seem trivial to you but it is not to me. It is a huge change. Tunang gua pun terharu wa cakap lu. Heh. It is not just about some name on some stupid form. It is about opening my heart and letting him in, with hope and faith.

Counting the days, we are :)
You gotta be hard
You gotta be tough
You gotta be stronger

This brought a smile to my gloomy face today:

The Addicting Blog Award
Awarded by
Yunik to Marliza

My blog and I thank you, dear Yunik! Teehee.

It's only 11 but it feels like it has been a veeeeeeeeeery long day. I feel drained. If you are feeling the same, join me layan one of my favourite 'motivational' songs, You Gotta Be by Desree. It is empowering, tau!

Listen as your day unfolds
Challenge what the future holds
Try to keep your head up to the sky

Lovers, they may cause you tears
Go ahead, release your fears
Stand up and be counted
Don't be ashamed to cry

You gotta be bad, you gotta be bold, you gotta be wiser
You gotta be hard, you gotta be tough, you gotta be stronger
You gotta be cool, you gotta be calm, you gotta stay together
All I know, all I know love will save the day

Herald what your mother said
Read the books your father read
Try to solve the puzzles in your own sweet time
Some may have more cash than you
Others take a different view

Time asks no questions, it goes on without you
Leaving you behind if you can't stand the pace
The world keeps on spinning
You can't stop it if you tried to
This time it's danger staring you in the face

Through the wrinkles of time
Through the bowed frame of years

Set in silver-ish white and Tiffany blue, Jaja and Syahrill’s wedding reception was heartfelt and elegantly grandeur. Our dearest Jaja looked radiant and beautiful, Syahrill was his ever cool self and we couldn’t be happier for the newlyweds. It was a lovely, lovely, lovely wedding indeed.

Happy happy faces!

And on Sunday, we witnessed our dearest Aniz got engaged to her beau of 6 years Muhaimin, in a lovely engagement ceremony. Aniz was beautiful (as always) and we are very, very happy for the beautiful couple.

Isn't Aniz gorgeous?

I love this shot of Aniz & Elin.
Of Pride and Envy. Hahaha!

[I am under strict instruction to mention that the 3rd photo was shot by Elin]

Witnessing my best friends entering new phases of their lives gives a glow in my heart and it feels real good :) Many happy returns, girlfriends!
