Do you know that Adolf Hitler was a vegetarian?

The irony. People, dengarlah ni. It is so tricky tau when you have combination skin. My face is oily on the T-zone but dry on all other parts. Susah tau nak cari skincare. Even harder when you are kedekut like me maka tidak suka mencuba. The only facial wash that really works for me is the gel-based one by Loreal and the Tea Tree facial scrub by Body Shop. Other wash/scrubs give me more breakouts and/or oily/drier skin.

The thing is, today I bought a Body Shop oil-free SPF15 foundation, which allegedly work on combination skin and gives you a matte, shine-free and healthy-looking finish. Saya tiada hesitation to buy Body Shop’s products because they usually work well on me. Cuma, some parts of my skin are very, very dry nowadays, thanks to my breakouts (hence, extensive usage of Oxy), maka natijahnya, the foundation blends really well on pipi and hidung tetapi membuatkan those dry parts kelihatan lebih amat dry. Help! I need a Dummy’s Guide to Makeup and Skincare! Ada ke?

2 Body Shop products I swear by. (L) No other lip balm works better than Body Shop Vitamin E Lip care with SPF 15. Memang best. (R) I love the concealer, apply sikitpun boleh cover blemishes.

(L) Tea Tree scrub yang menyegarkan tanpa mengeringkan. (R) Cuticle cream; apply sebelum tidur, esok pagi bangun, kuku seperti bercahaya.

Perfume zaman university. Fresh.

I want I want I want! (L) Vitamin E Starter Kit (sepeti tiada kelihatan di Malaysia) and (R) Strawberry lotion yang enak sungguh baunya.

Okay, sekian sahaja entry bermotif vain. Seperti ada free ad for Body Shop pula. Tak mengapa, they deserve it. Mahu kembali bekerja bersungguh-sungguh sebelum bercuti sehingga Ahad ini. Sebelum itu, mari baca some Skincare Education from Pharmacy.Gov.My.

What can you do about acne?

(1) Wash your face twice daily with an acne cleanser. You can clean your face with a 5% benzoyl peroxide wash. An alternative for those who are allergic to benzoyl peroxide is 2% salicylic acid.
(2) Avoid direct exposure to sun. If you are involved in outdoor sports, use non- irritating sun screen.
(3) Use a light skin moisturizer and oil-free makeup as you wish.
(4) Avoid touching or squeezing the pimples with your hands.

What can you do about dry skin?

(1) Lubricating the skin: You can use bathing oil which contain minerals or vegetable oil plus a surfactant.
(2) Moisturizing the skin: Moisturizers are used to prevent or relieve the symptoms of dry skin. A range of products that are available in the pharmacy are petrolatum, lanolin, mineral oil and dimethicone.
(3) Chemically softening the skin layer: There are some products that can be used as softeners in dry skin such as urea, lactic acid and allantoin.

I hijacked a rainbow and crashed into a pot of gold

Thanks to the full dress rehearsal for Hari Wilayah parade, I was on the road for almost 2 hours today. Woohoo lucky me! Maka tenang sahaja.

Semalam, jiwa kacau, marahkan nyamuk (iaitu congested traffic), Kelambu terbakar. Mari kita teka siapa Kelambu itu?! Iya betul!

How to mend a jiwa kacau?

(1) Mr.Sweetheart’s new love; from Iron Maiden and Slayer to Britney Spears and KRU, I certainly prefer my own melancholy playlist. Heh.

(2) My mood booster rose scented candle.

(3)
What you cannot teka is, the whole office (the whole office building in fact) is blacked out! Elektrik, phone line, air-cond, semuanya yilek pochek. Bahagia seketika for 2++ hours. Selepas berborak-borak tak hengat, Kano and I went berjalan-jalan in Sogo sehingga lenguh. Heh.

(4) Reading sehingga tertidur-tidur (ketika lunch hour lah!)

Last but not least (tanpa gambar), berbuka puasa bersama Kelambu yang menggembirakan hati, di mana Pembakar Kelambu telah melantak sepinggan nasik kandaq berlauk daging dan ayam, 5 cucuk sate ayam serta pastilah teh ais. Juga dodol ibu Kano sebagai dessert. Yum!

Memory is the diary that we all carry about with us
~ Oscar Wilde, The Importance of Being Earnest

Kimi was called to the Bar today. Kano and I got teary eyed when his Mover read his speech sebab ada special thanks to us and few other HSK fellowships. Our Mi Amor, Su was also present today. Aah good old days, when there were Su, Kimi and Adrin.

It is 30 minutes past 6 (on a Friday evening!) and I am only starting on my submission. Target mahu file ini Isnin. Jadi perlu siap ini hari. Sebab ini weekends, mahu berfoya-foya. The whole day was spent finishing the boss’ work (dan layan clients), jadi barulah mahu start on my own work. Huhu.

It is time like these yang buat diri tertanya-tanya akan soalan kerek (tapi comel) Elin: “Gaji berapa? Worth it kah?” Haha haha haha! (Gelak saiko) Tetapi perlulah counter semula dengan pernyataan bermakna En. Dzaffran (Kimi’s Master) during Kimi's makan2 reception today: “Satu nasihat saya yang utama, bekerjalah dengan ikhlas. Itu paling penting.” Keikhlasan. Paling penting. Bukankah? Bukan?!

Once upon a time…

I am a complex human being. It would be easier if I could be more ignorant towards what other people thinks. I am trying. Tak perlu beri justification, tak perlu beri warning. Menerimalah. Bukankah?

On a lighter note, look what Little Bro and I found semasa mengemas buku-buku untuk dikotakkan seketika! Our childhood books! From Enid Blyton to Disney publications, to buku-buku yang dibeli di koop sekolah rendah (SRKTSG Kami Sanjung Tinggi), to encyclopedias and Dewan Bahasa publications. Gembira rasanya :-)

Buku ini mengandungi fairy tales, poetries, fables, poems and nursery rhymes. Comel dan sangat best!!

Ini adalah cassettes untuk buku di atas, I used to read along.
Hehe. Seronok.

Aah encyclopedias. We have a lot of encyclopedias, tapi somehow kami tak berpengetahuan am sangatpun. Haha. (R) From arwah Atok for Little Bro. Sangatlah sentimental value.

(L) Ahah Enid Blyton (Malay) series. Ada sangat banyak but those 4 are my favourite! Pulau Rahsia is the best book ever! Heh. (R) Tidurlah Intan series by DBP. Colourful illustration menghiasi cerita2 nasihat. Sangat healthy.

(L) The boxed (childhood) books; and (R) the boxes of them.

I really, really like this particular fable from My Storybook Dictionary, entitled The Goose That Was Just A Goose. (Oh FYI, a fable is a short story made up to teach a lesson):

Once a goose was very proud of her white feathers. So she tried to pretend she was a swan. She left her family and swam around the pond. She bent her neck like a swan’s. But it was no use. Her neck was too short and stiff. Nobody thought she was a swan. She just looked silly. Moral: It is no use trying to make people think we are something that we are not.

... And they live happily ever after.

COMMON SENSE (noun)
Sound practical judgment that is independent of specialized knowledge, training, or the like; normal native intelligence.

Source: Dictionary.com

As of/for today, MY definition of COMMON SENSE is:

(1) Pay your debt without having to be reminded. Malu tau nak mintak hutang. Kano! Kano takde hutang AM!!

(2) When you are merely a chambee, kuli atau junior lawyer (like yours truly), you don’t have the luxury of retaliating apabila ditegur/dimarahi oleh boss anda. Suck it up. You are not there yet.

Don’t you know that gossip travels faster than light?

Every office must have at least 1 of them. Kan?

(5) Jangan berhentikan kenderaan di atas garisan kuning. Menyusahkan orang. Dan jika ada drivers yang memilih untuk tidak bergerak kerana tidak mahu berhenti di atas garisan kuning, please DO NOT honk. Jika mahu jadi bodoh, bodohlah sorang2.

(6) Bila menipu, remember your facts well. Do not get caught.

(7) Flush!!!! Eeeew, okay?!

(8) Lipatlah sejadah tu selepas digunakan. Haa kan kemas tu.

(9) Dear clients, please do not call within 1-2 p.m. I need my lunch break. You have the rest 8 hours to bother me.

(10) When someone holds the door/lift for you, say “Thank you”. You are not a princess, you know?

(11) When someone gives way to your car, angkatlah tangan (“Bukan kena bayar pun kalau angkat tangan!”) Sejuk hati.

(12) If a professional photographer costs RM700-800, redhalah. Although you love, love, love their works, remind yourself “Saya bukan anak Dato”.

Sekian sahaja.

Quotes are nothing but inspiration for the uninspired

As some (readers of this blog) may have guessed, I love (good) quotes. Today, for my love for quotes, I present to you 2006 Most Notable Quotes according to Mr. Fred R. Shapiro, editor of the Yale Book of Quotations (Source: Yahoo Featured). And they are *drum roll*:

Topping the list is Mr. President Bush, conquering the Top 3s:

(1) "I'm the decider, and I decide what is best.” (Ha ha. What else is new?)

(2) "America is addicted to oil" (D’uh!)

(3) And his comment on Hurricane Katrina to high school students in New Orleans: "I take full responsibility for the federal government's response"

At number (4) is Sacha Baron Cohen's explanation about his movie Borat, "The joke is not on Kazakhstan. I think the joke is on people who can believe that the Kazakhstan that I describe can exist."

(5) Stephen Colbert's comic remark on Bush: "The greatest thing about this man is he's steady. You know where he stands. He believes the same thing Wednesday that he believed on Monday, no matter what happened Tuesday."

Right-wing polemicist Ann Coulter at number (6) for her attack on the widows of men who died in the World Trade Center on September 11: "These broads are millionaires, lionized on TV and in articles about them, reveling in their status as celebrities and stalked by grief-arrazies. I have never seen people enjoying their husbands' death so much." (Meoooooww!)

(7) A line from the Will Ferrell film, "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Rickey Bobby," "If you ain't first, you're last."

(8) Hungarian Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany about statements made about the economy to win an election: "We lied morning, noon and night." (Honesty is the best policy, eh?)

But the Champion, I tell you, is the quotation from the great Miss Paris Hilton, "When I was a kid I had no idea I lived in a mansion. Then I went to a friend's house and I was like -- 'Oh'.” (Ha ha. Now that is cute)

Now you go and have a good week, people!

Semoga terpeliharalah daripada gangguan & godaan syaitan
di sepanjang tahun ini.

Source: Darul Numan

Selamat Tahun Baru Hijrah 1428!
Semoga tahun ini lebih baik dari sebelumnya. Aamiin.
"Cleanliness and order are not matters of instinct;
they are matters of education,
and like most great things,
you must cultivate a taste for them."
- Benjamin Disraeli

Some people just don’t know how to use toilet properly kan? It is not rocket science, you know? Simple. Selepas guna, sila flush. I don’t want to see your air kuning menguningkan air di dalam toilet bowl itu. What puzzles me more, perkara ini malah berlaku di dalam firma guaman di mana majoritinya adalah orang bijak pandai dan kelihatannya kemas dan bergaya. Tetapi ada yang pengotor? Satu lagi, jangan buang tisu dalam toilet bowl. Geli. Mengerti? The key word is flush. F.L.U.S.H. Get it?

It was madness in Sogo yesterday; preview sale for Members-Only was held from 9 a.m. until 11 p.m. Madness, I tell you. The perk? (1) Sale up to 70%. (2) Ridiculously cheap groceries (3) For every RM100 you spend, you’ll get an RM10 voucher (rebate coupon). (4) When you purchase cosmetic/perfume, not only you will get the rebate coupon, you’ll get cosmetic coupon juga, juga RM10 for RM100.

Jadi bila barangan cosmetic/perfume berharga RM200++, you’ll get RM40! How nice is that? Yours truly herself got an RM40 voucher because she bought a Georgio Armani perfume set. Now you understand what the madness is all about? Sogo sale is opened to public today, until 17th Feb. Go spend some money for your deserving selves!

How do you know when how much is too much?
Too much too soon. Too much information.
Too much fun. Too much love. Too much to ask.
And when is it all just too much to bear?

Although my McDreamy, the gorgeous Izzie and the wacky Meredith went home empty handed, my favourite tv show Grey’s Anatomy won the Golden Globe for Best Drama! Woohoo! Seriously? Seriously!

The doctors, looking all rosy and glam.

I told you before, kan? I am a sucker for award show and acceptance speech. Heh. My favourite speech last night were of Warren Beatty’s and Helen Mirren’s. Classic.

Oh I so want Grey’s Anatomy’ dvds (ciplak pun okay) for both seasons 1&2 for my birthday *hint buat my girls* Ngeh ngeh.

And oh, have you seen the latest DIGI ad (yes, I am obsessed); the yellow jin “follow you where ever you will go” even into the cinema. Jin kuning itu rasa bersalah because the DIGI user was talking on the phone dengan kuat di dalam cinema. So cute. I feel like switching to DIGI as a support. Too bad I’ve registered my Celcom number. Saiko kejap, boleh? Heh.

You must not know about me
You must not know about me

I am so into these two songs:

Beyonce's Irreplacable (To The Left To The Left):
"So since I’m not your everything
How about I'll be nothing
Nothing at all to you
Baby I wont shed a tear for you
I won't lose a wink of sleep
Cause the truth of the matter is
Replacing you is so easy"

Shakira's Illegal:
"You don't even know the meaning
of the words 'I'm sorry'
You said you would love me until you die
And as far as I know you're still alive, baby
You don't even know the meaning
of the words 'I'm sorry'
I'm starting to believe it should be illegal
to deceive a woman's heart"

Amat sangat comel in a garang kind of way. Heh.

I love my mother as the trees love water and sunshine;
She helps me grow, prosper, and reach great heights.

Like most people, Isnin is my least favourite day of the week. Why, it goes without saying lah. This is followed by Ahad, di atas sebab anticipation of Monday. My favourite day is Sabtu, sebab the whole day is free sampai malam, and if you screw up your Sabtu, you still have your Ahad. Perasaan hari Sabtu bagiku adalah seperti yang tergambar in Nescafe ad, Hallmark cards and Christmas movies. Get it? Heh.

But my yester Sunday was fun; had breakfast with my girls in the morning, melepak at the mamak sampai noon, then went shopping with Dod (she shopped and I helped, to be exact) after hunting for Jas’ wedding gift.

Bila malam tiba, went for dinner at Rest. Sari Ratu (Authentic Nasi Padang) at Bukit Bintang with my family, celebrating Ibu’s jubli emas birthday. Any time spent with ma familia is always the best of time.

And today, albeit it is Monday, I woke up feeling fresh and happy happy, joy joy. The sun is shining dengan megah. Listened to Kenny Rogers’ Through The Years as soon as I got into car. Called Sweetheart. Arrived in the office 5 minutes late. Buka blind untuk membiarkan mentari bersinar into my room. Mengamuk kecil kerana terlupa membawa pendrive. Watered my cactus. Lit up a rose scented candle. And now I am ready to start my submission.

Oh, Happy Birthday to Ibu. I love you more than anything in the world.

I believe in luck: how else can you explain
the success of those you dislike?

Finally. Andy and Laura were eliminated from Amazing Race Asia. I simply despise Andy’s ethics. Maybe he let his competitive instinct rule his morale during the game, tapi entahlah, you can be nice and still win, seperti Uchenna and Joyce. Hampeh. The teams I’ve been rooting for are all in Top 4! Haa kan dah susah sekarang, nak sokong siapa.

The Top 4 teams are *drum roll*:

(1) First we have this Malaysian dating couple, Andrew and Syeon, yang kusokong kerana mereka Malaysian dan sungguh sweetness.

(2) I like Sandy-Francesca team because they really, really complement each other. Now, if only he would stop wearing those body hugging t-shirt which screams “I am in love with myself!”

(3) The M&M team from Indonesia is a joy to watch because they don’t fit the strong, athletic look yang selalunya ada pada the AR contestants. They represent ordinary people, people who love foods dan adalah gendut, and they are in the Top 4! Cayalah brothers!

(4) And, our very own Malaysian girl-power-team, Joe Jer and Zabreena. Coolness lah mereka. Even their names are cool. I hope they will win.

Both of our Malaysian teams are in the Top 4! How cool is that?! Go Malaysia!

P/S: And you know what else is cool? DIGI’s latest ad, that yellow mascot merata-rata and the cute theme song “I will follow you, follow you where ever you will go”. Even the latest radio ad for DIGI pun amat catchy dan kelakar. Kudos to DIGI for hiring a really good marketing team!

Men love their country, not because it is great,
but because it is their own.

Want to buy a nation? Hehehe. Apply to Prince Michael of Sealand if you want to run your own nation, the world's smallest country with its own flag, stamps, currency and passports, Sealand!

Walaupun hanya merupakan a wartime fort perched on two concrete towers in the North Sea, ia adalah sebuah negara! And I thought Singapore is the smallest nation! How wrong!

Why buy Sealand?

(1) You get to rule your own nation! If you are gila kuasa/power-craving, ini adalah masa yang sesuai!

(2) Prince Michael when suggested people to buy Sealand berkata, “The neighbors are very quiet. There is a good sea view." Maka ia sesuai untuk laut lover like myself atau sesiapa yang mengimpikan untuk tinggal di tepian pantai (asalkan tidak takut dilambung badai) atau sesiapa yang menginginkan kejiranan yang tenteram.

(3) The nation has eight rooms in each tower and it could be a base for online gambling or offshore banking. Apa lagi? Boleh buka kasino! Or another offshore bank for Malaysians yang kaya-raya yang nak sorok duit.

I wanted to share some pictures but the connection is sedikit weng lantas aku malas menanti. Maka, later lah ya.

A good friend is a connection to life -
a tie to the past, a road to the future,
the key to sanity in a totally insane world.

Growing up watching too much of American television, I am quite familiar with the idea of sorority. Aku rasa korangpun, kan? There is this MTV production, Sorority Girls, a reality show about a sorority community in University of Buffalo and it shows how the rushees had to kiss ***, mengampu, mengipas, how they had to please the ‘sisters’, in order to be chosen as one of the pledges dan selanjutnya menjadi ‘sisters’ lah.

I personally think the idea of sorority is fine; you get to be one of the chosen ones, get to live in a beautiful house with the other chosen ones, get to be involved in healthier activities and stuffs. It is okay, as long as one is in it for the right reason.

Tetapi to feel belong? Kasihannya. There is this one girl, when interviewed by MTV, dipetik sebagai berkata, she wanted to join the sorority so that she will always have friends, will always feel belong, will always have someone to laugh with and to turn to in trouble. Ya Tuhan, the naivety. Is that how we define/get friends sekarang? Maybe if she is lucky she will get sahabat sejati simply by going to interviews and getting a bid. Mudahnyalah sangat.

Anyways, who needs sorority when your housemates are your best friends living happily in your own (rented) baiti jannati? Who needs sorority when your university years boleh diserikan dengan mereka ini? Siapa? Siapa? Then again, unless for the right reason.

Who would give a law to lovers?
Love is unto itself a higher law.

I watched a very comel Korean movie tonight; My Boyfriend Is Type B. Typically Korean; sangat comel, sangat manis, sangat berjiwa.

Secara amnya, premis cerita ini revolves around the wacky notion that a person's blood type determines one's personality and consequently one's compatibility with the opposite sex. Maka apakah yang berlaku sekiranya a soft-spoken type-A girl bertemu a brash type-B boy? Sangatlah comel.

I did some research mengenai notion ini. Apparently, it is a popular belief in Japan that a person's ABO blood type or ketsu eki gata is predictive of their personality, character, and compatibility with others. (Source:
Wikipedia)

The followings are the traits and compatibility of blood types according to Japanese belief (Source:
BellaOnline) (I wonder what type Sweetheart is):

Type O:
Type O's are outgoing, and very social. They are initiators, although they don't always finish what they start. Creative and popular, they love to be the center of attention and appear very self confident.

Type A:
While outwardly calm, they have such high standards (perfectionists) that they tend to be balls of nerves on the inside. The most artistic of the blood groups. They can be shy, are conscientious, trustworthy, and sensitive.

Type B:
Goal oriented and strong minded, type B's will start a task and continue it until completed, and completed well. Type B's are the individualists of the blood group categories and find their own way in life.

Type AB:
Type AB's are the split personalities of the blood groups. They can be both outgoing and shy, confident and timid. While responsible, too much responsibility will cause a problem. Trustworthy and like to help others.

COMPATIBILITY BY BLOOD GROUPS:

A is most compatible with A and AB.
B is most compatible with B and AB.
AB is most compatible with AB, B, A and O.
O is most compatible with O, and AB.

Lee Dong Gun (the type-B boyfriend); before & after. How can someone who used to look like the person on the left boleh membesar dan menjadi sangat comel like the one on the right? My my.

She looks like a flower but she stings like a bee

She is having her monthly case of cramp and crankiness and everything in between. And now that she has taken her white knight, she thinks she is going to be very mengantuk very soon. All she wants to do now is to lie down at home and read her newly-bought book, Ayat-Ayat Cinta by Habiburrahman El Shirazy. Her boss almost caught her doodling a monster sambil makan coklat Daim when she is supposed to be working on the boss' files. Note to colleague: Do not approach her with problematic files or more work. She bites. Claims, foods and gossips are welcome. Note to Sweetheart: Be afraid, be very afraid. Heh.

Once the game is over,
the king and the pawn go back in the same box.

First day of work in 2007. Masih dengan old habit of meneroka Internet seketika ketika bekerja (hence, this entry) and I have no plan to change for the better. Yet.

Genap setahun berada di HSK. On this date last year, I was an unsuspecting fresh graduate; happy and thankful to be accepted to chamber in such a nice firm, got acquainted with some new friends, boss was on leave, berfoya-foya dengan penuh malu-malu. One year later, masih thankful, masih berfoya-foya now and then tetapi tidak malu-malu lagi, masih happy dan alhamdulillah, di tahap yang lebih maju (and my boss, masih on leave, 1st day of school, kan?)

In my 24 years of age, I never celebrate New Year. Why aah? On the night of 31st Dec 2006, while other people are partying and countdown-ing and what not, I was home, doing what I love most, reading.

This morning I nearly hit an X-Trail, thanks to my blind spot.

I had mee hailam for lunch dan telah menghasilkan corak-corak indah di tudung berwarna krimku hasil percikan kuah mee hailam itu. Tension, boleh?

And now I am munching Biskut Tiger. Mahu gendut?
