Left: A beautifully crafted novel. For those into good reading, this is definitely a must.

Middle: Swades is surprisingly a refreshing Bollywood movie on patriotisme, humanity and tradition. No mainstream faces (except Shah Rukh of course), good script, no tarian mengawan (most importantly), very little and subtle romance plots, and somehow lightens the heart. Not bad. Not bad at all.

A true friend reaches for your hand and touches your heart

Marliza's current best friends:

Yes, they can never reach for my hand,
but they sure do touch my heart.
Teehehe I am one sad case. Better get a job soon.

"Beyond talent lies all the usual words: Discipline. Love. Luck -- But, most of all, endurance."

Being a true tv addict Marliza Yanti is, she is so very excited (and quite saddened) that her favourite tv shows are coming to end. Tonight is the grand finale for The Apprentice 2, and this Tuesday is the finale for ANTM. Although she has already been surprised with the winners of both shows earlier (ungrateful thanks to Dod for ANTM and Mr.D for The Apprentice), she is still thrilled and cannot wait to watch them.

The 2nd apprentice for Mr. Trump has been her favourite almost since the start, and this is how she got to know the result of the grand finale from Mr. D. She said, "Orang suke _____" and Mr. D blurted, "Kan die yang menang. Awak yang bgtau orang kan?" Okay, sekian terima kasih. In almost the same way, she was informed of Bill's winning by (her then boifren, current besfren) King. Heh.

The winner for ANTM is also quite to her liking. The three finalists are perhaps the strongest. But Yaya with her blotchy skin (as was put by Diana), Eva with her shortness, and Amanda with her being legally blind (enough already. You repeat the words too many times), and she sometimes is quietly bitchy. But nobody's perfect.

And AIM is just around the corner. Marliza loves award shows. She loves the fact that people are recognised and appreciated for their talents and hardworks. Yeay. Listen to her babbling about tv shows. She seems to be in front of tv quite a lot these days (and she is using too many 'quite' in this entry).

She is also currently reading The Five People You Meet In Heaven, a book by Mitch Albom and now is a movie on Hallmark channel, and she is liking it so very much. Taraaa!

On being humane, or something like that..

I was browsing through my April entries for the past 2 years and found something I really like and decided to post it once again. A moral dilemma. What would YOU do?

MORAL DILEMMA
Dick Breit,Readers Digest 0403

Consider this situation. You are driving along a wild, stormy night. You pass by a bus stop, when you see 3 people waiting.

1) An elderly woman who is about to die.
2) An old friend who once saved your life.
3) The perfect mate you've been dreaming about all your life.

Who would you choose, knowing there could only be one passenger in your car? Should you save the elderly woman or take the old friend because he once saved your life? But you may never find your perfect dream lover again!

This quiz was given to 200 applicants for a single job. The one who was hired responded: "I would give the car keys to my friend and let him take the elderly woman to the hospital. Then I would stay behind and wait for the bus with the woman of my dreams"

Convocation report by humble, exhausted me

Today was tiring. Convo was fun but mostly it was tiring. Ours was Sidang pagi, the 2nd to go on stage (after Honours prog), and we had to wait for other courses to finish bla bla bla, and it was kinda hot in the Annexed Hall.

The weather did not help either as it was a very very sunny day, too sunny for my liking (I was wearing a heavy big robe, remember?) I was literally burned and I looked really flustered.

Why am I complaining? I actually had a good day. Air mata sikit bergenang when my good friend, Anwar's name was announced as Penerima Anugerah Naib Canselor (i.e. mendapat CGPA 3.5 dan ke atas bagi setiap semester) He totally deserves it. There were 2 others who graduated with DL, and 14 others graduated with 3 pointer CGPA, including me alhamdulillah. Altogether, there were 88 graduates today.

Everything went too fast. Feel so bad sebab tak dapat layan sedara2 yang datang betol2. Sangat harap mereka paham. And my clique did not have the chance to berkumpul properly to take our pictures. And so goes for our batch as well. But there is always Convo for Hons next year insyaAllah.

Ayin came and brought me flowers and graduation gift. TQ love, for coming all the way and putting up with the day. Mwahs!

I got 5 bouquets of flowers to be exact. Red roses from my parents, orange roses from my bro, yellow lilies from Ayin, pink roses from Mr.D (which matched my whole attire), and the biggest, purple roses from my Kindy, Far (I gave her the same bouquet as well. Teehee)

Mr. D nervously met my family (altho not his 1st time), dan Ayin juge, a gentleman he is. TQ my dear. You made my day. Ngeee.

Tomorrow I'm going back to Shah Alam to pick up family and self portraits from the studio, serta gambar atas stage. I'm pretty sure I look awful in almost all the pictures taken, thanks to the bustling crowd and the shiny shiny sun. Huwa huwa. Now I need to get some rest. Congrats again, my fellow friends!

Not so clear picture of all the pweety flowers I received

Newly uploaded: My toye self with Ayin dearest on my Convocation day. TQ Yin for all the pix! Mwah!

I wish I was an alien at home behind the sun

Went to BSN and BCB this morning with my mom to get some of her stuffs settled. It struck me that bank officers are becoming friendlier and very helpful these days. The other day I went to Tabung Haji in Shah Alam and this lady bank officer was being very chatty and nice as well. No more mean looking or lazy officers, and in fact, they are very efficient. Maybe it's true that the Budi Bahasa campaign really do wonders this time around.

Watched Oprah this afternoon and now I'm thinking why do people even bother to have children? Kids are so difficult to deal with, and parents will always be blamed for that. How devils they turn out to be, are all the parents' fault. Phew. My besfren, Far told me that she finally understood kenapa people dera anak diorg, after watching how difficult it is for her sister to handle their 4 years old demanding daughter. Tanpa kesabaran, memang kena derala.

But then again, anak2 ni la jugak penawar hati. Penyeri rumah. Penyambung keturunan. Angels or devils, liabilities or assets, anything they could be, starts from home, is up to the parents (there I go, me as well, putting the onus on the parents) Despite the phobia I had after watching todays show, I undoubtedly still want children of my own. I mean, I can always turn to Supernanny Manual (or dump them to my hubby) if they turn out to be devils (adorable ones I hope). God forbid.

Now lets talk vain. Berat saya bertambah 3 kg. Good news or bad one? Can't decide. Far said it does not make any difference as I'm still too skinny (according to her. She's my besfren, remember?) I know I should be cutting 1 kg but the problem is, I can't stop munching foods! Almost all the time! What's wrong with me?

Read Jas' blog and I seriously beg to differ from her reviews for Samara and Hide&Seek. Samara is purely crap. No story line, not scary at all (altho there was this one girl sitting behind me kept screaming her heart out, pastu gelak. Gile klaka), and extremely boooring. Mr. D dozed of in the middle of the movie dan sayapun tersengguk2 juge. Well, Jas cakap die tak tengok sangatpon. Anyhow, do not waste your RM8 on Samara. What's with Hollywood and crappy sacry movies. Stop trying to be Japanese!

Some of my friends are seriously thinking of doing attachment this school break. Am still not sure whether or not I should do it as well (read: work during hol. sob) Done attachment once, and it was kinda interesting and of course, would look impressive on my resume. While in Rawang this morning, I noticed quite a number of law firms. Maybe I should, eh? Oh my precious precious hol *now blinking with tears of sacrifice. Teehee*

Some people are lucky enough to be born with pink tinted contact lenses glued to their eyeballs

I watched Chocolat again yesterday. It gets me everytime. If you love the movie, wait till you read the book. Delightful. And Johnny Depp is so very sexy as Roux. Teehee.

********************

Gingerbread Man (based on the novel by John Grisham) was on TV3 last night. Some feedbacks from me (tho I was not really watching for I was reading All The Rage by Yasmin Boldan):

1. Lawyers who cheated their way thru law schools may always still be lawyers, but the kind who are despised by their clients, or at least by some clients who are smart enough.
(And of course peeps. Cheating = haram. Makanye, hasil kerja = haram. Simple arithmetics)

2. Lawyers' occupational hazard? When you get a person convicted, your family and your own self could be in danger. Be very afraid. Brrr.

3. Found myself in love with Robert Downey Junior's charming good look all over again *drool* Teehee.

********************

Now on more serious note. Tomorrow, raptai Konvokesyen Sarjana Muda Undang-Undang will be held. Kinda excited :-) Teehee. Before the rehearsal, me and the whole gang are going to get our pic taken professionally. In our graduation robes. Hehe. Our graduation photo. Yeehee.

Our real convocation day will be on the 17th of April (which is also my parents' 24th anniversary). My mom will be hosting a kenduri the night before, thanking Allah for their 24th years as husband & wife, and of course for me graduating. Alhamdulillah. Finally graduating with an LLB. And making my parents proud :-) Congrats to my fellow friends (and to proud parents of my amazing friends!).

Ding Dong Bell (I'm not making any sense)

So I am in the library again. Settled my business of mengemas bilik, paying bills, and renewing my driver's licence. The cute (?) part is that the next time I'm renewing my licence, I would already be a working lady (I certainly hope so) and paying with my own money. Woohoo! (well ok, the latter part was actually menyedihkan.) Now I've got to kemas all my stuffs in the office, as next semester, we will be moved to downstairs (read: no more stairs!) The not so happy bit about that is that there will no more be any nearby surau where we can go take a nap in the middle of classes and no more internet connection (let's just hope they'll install it at Honours 2 office for next semester). But before that, let's blog.

So what's new since yesterday?

1. My firm finished our part of the mock trial and got a "Well Done" from Mr.G (yeay) but my job as Court Interpreter will still continue for the next sessions. Huhuhu. Malas.

2. I have not had my lunch and now I have to angkat piles and piles of books and files. Let's just hope I could find any help by anyone (Mr. D can't do. He's having his mock trial now. Sob)

3. Paid our house bills and renewed my licence.

4. Borrowed 6 books from PTAR. Hoping to keep myself busy this school break. 2 whole months! Should I work?

5. Ooh found a new dining spot. Very cozy, preety ambiance. And definitely good foods! Not telling where. Teehehe. Sec 13. Cari! (Banyak actually kat 13 tu)

6. Not broke anymore. Bapak masukkan some money into my Maybank account this morning. TQ Bapak! Yanti loves you! (JPA, proses my scholarship extension cepat2 sket bleh?!)

7. Am reading Tipping the Velvet by awards-winning author Sarah Matthews. Contrary to reviews from Naem and Dod, I actually like this book. Refreshingly is a novelty. Historical romance (not quite) between 2 women di zaman when women wearing trousers pun is considered to be an obscenity. Hehe. Interesting.

I think I better go kemas my barang and go get some lunch. Till then!

Aah, to be a kid again

As we were passing Sec. 3 primary school this afternoon, Mr.D said to me "Besnye kalo boleh balik jadi cam budak2 ni." And of course I disagreed. Well who can blame him, with all his work loads right now. (We are pathetic. We are still here in Shah Alam for our mock trial when we are supposed to be on happy holiday by now *sigh*)

I undoubtedly do not want to go back to sekolah rendah and having to go through everything all over again. Once is more than enough if one live it to the fullest at that time. Having to go through UPSR, PMR, SPM and all the exams all over again, sekian terima kasih. I'd rather not.
As much as I love my high school years (STF is the best), I would not go back to those times again, even if I am granted to turn back time. I embrace my NOW and am trying to live it to the fullest.

Why am I blabbing non stop without much thoughts? Teehehe. I don't know. Pardon me. I am just bored.

All the cutie softies di rumah kami, including my newborn Coco (gift from my angels) - the one wearing the birthday crown.

Others on the pic are: Jaja's BearBo (the smirking one), Naem's Lola (the one lying lazily), Far's Teh Su (the bigger lembu) and Elin's Moo (the smaller lembu). Happy happy friends they are.

Of Being 23

My 23rd birthday on 30/03/05 was a great one. Went for an early dinner with my family at my favourite restaurant. Midnite stroke and Mr. D was the 1st to sing me birthday wishes. Then my wonderful housemates [Far, Jaja, Naem] celebrated my birthday, and later went for a bday supper with Mr. D and got my 4th pressie. He also prepared something really sweet for me. My phone did not stop beeping for incoming bday sms-es. I love you guys!

The next day, my beloved angels threw me a surprise party. [surprise? supposed to be one lah. But I guess it way before, as Mr. D who was supposed to bawak lari me for a while did not know where to bring me and keep postponing pembalikan kami for no reason. Heh] Everything was great anyhow. I actually got 4 birthday cakes- from my parents, my housemates, Mr. D and of course from my lovely girls. How fun is that?

My 23rd bday was a simple day of celebration & muhasabah diri, and a reminder of how I am blessed with so many special and wonderful people in my humble life. Well it actually was almost 'ruined' by my besfren [read: my ex], but I care for him too much for my day to be ruined by his 'luahan hati' [no offence, dear.. but it was my Birthday kan. Heh]

I hope to wiser and better, and like the years before, I wish to be a happier, more successful person, dan diberkati Allah setiap masa.

Tq all for all the birthday wishes and gifts and mostly, for the LOVE. Tq for making my 23rd bday a great one.

Among the gifts from my beloved parents and amazing friends. Some pressies though are not in the pic as they were non-existence at the time the pic was taken :P. Far's gift is concealed in the red box for the purpose of protecting decency of my blog. Teehehe.
